On Joisting Truss

Contains controls to create and place an On Joisting type truss.

SettingDescription
Span

Sets the horizontal distance between outside edges of the outermost supports (the nominal span).

Wall Height

Set the height at which the truss is placed relative to the data point or active ACS plane.

Height AGL

Sets the ridge (peak) height above ground level. The height measured from the bottom of the wall to the top of the truss ridge (peak).

Left/Right

Sets the variables pertaining to the left/right top chord of truss. Left/right values can be automatically synchronized by toggling the lock icon.

Pitch

Sets the slope of left/right top chords in degrees.

Eaves Overhang

Sets the length by which the truss extends past the outside edge of the outermost support.

Lowered

Set the amount by which the bottom chord is lowered. Keep in mind, the elevation of the bottom chord will still be relative to the wall height.

Eaves Depth

Sets the distance measured from the outside edges of the outermost supports to the first inner vertical member.

Eaves Height

Sets the distance measured from top of bottom chord member to the bottom of the top chord member.

Clear Height

Sets the distance measured from the top of the bottom chord member to bottom of the attic.

Double-tie

Adds a second horizontal member to base of attic.

Attic

Sets the attic truss type.

  • Attic Truss — Provides space for a room (when large enough) or for HVAC equipment or for a hot water heater. Sometimes referred to as a Room In Roof (RIR) truss.

  • Queen Post — Provides additional support for roof dormers.

  • King Post — Provides additional width between vertical members and height between horizontal members.

Width and Height

Available for the Habitable and On-Joisting Attic trusses only. When on, sets the width and height of the attic space room.

Tie

Displays the thickness settings of horizontal tie members. These settings are set in the Setup dialog.

Joisting

Sets the spacing between the truss and the walls.
